What is PrettyLittleThing?
PrettyLittleThing was established in 2012 by the Kamani brothers (Umar and Adam). It remained their business until early 2017 when it was acquired by Boohoo Group Plc the same group that runs boohooMAN.com and NastyGal.com.
Boohoo Group Plc is a big-time retailer in the fashion business. It specializes in own brand clothing and has a strong presence in the UK, US, Europe and Australia. Boohoo Group Plc even got listed in the London Stock Exchange in 2014.
PrettyLittleThing is made to be the one-stop shop for trend-led women’s wears, footwear, accessories and beauty products. As a result, they draw a lot of inspiration from the runways, and from celebrity fashion.
To keep up with changing fashion and styles, they are always adding to their collections. Their site says that hundreds of new products are added daily. So, you’ll always find the latest in women’s fashion in PrettyLittleThing.
The products in PrettyLittleThing are primarily targeted at females in their teens to those in their mid-thirties. However, since June 2017 the store started offering products for young girls aged between 5 to 12.
One thing that helped shot up the popularity of PrettyLittleThing is their collaboration with celebrity TV personalities, models, musicians, actresses, etc. Over the years, they’ve worked names like Kourtney Kardashian, Ashley Graham, Lucy Mecklenburgh, Kylie Jenner, Nicki Minaj and more. These collaborations paid off, as there are many customers that report trying out the store when they found that the store is endorsed by a popular name.
Is PrettyLittleThing legit or a scam?
PrettyLittleThing is legit, not a scam. One thing is sure, there are many fraudsters on the internet. These dark artists have devised every possible way to scam people of their hard earned money, and an online store (where people will pay for goods that they will never receive) is one old but still effective way. Therefore, it’s wise to ask whether the online store you’re planning to shop at is legit or a scam.
In this regard, PrettyLittleThing ticks the right boxes. One of the first things to check out for when determining the legitimacy of an online store is whether it is backed up by a functioning physical store with a factory, warehouse, showroom and all. Most often than not, scam stores have only virtual existence; they do not deliver the product to customers who make purchases simply because there is no product to deliver.
PrettyLittleThing does have a physical existence. They have shops all over the UK. Their parent company Boohoo Group Plc is headquartered in Manchester in the UK.
In 2014 Boohoo Group Plc got listed in the London Stock Exchange. Just take a peek at the listing requirements into the London Stock Exchange, and you’ll know that there’s no way a scam house will be listed.
That said there’s no doubt that PrettyLittleThing is a legit store selling women’s stuff.
Is PrettyLittleThing safe?
PrettyLittleThing is safe. When you register and create an account with PrettyLittleThing, you provide them with personal information which includes your name, email address, delivery address, phone number, credit card details, date of birth and more.
If you’re not worried about your identity being stolen, at least you should be worried about some fraudster wiping out your bank account. Thus, you’ll not want information like your credit card details to get into the wrong hands. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure that the online store has structures to protect such sensitive information.
In this regard, PrettyLittleThing says that protecting their customers is the main priority, and as a result, they keep the personal data and information of customers secure at all costs.
To reduce the risk of card details being compromised or stolen during the payment authorisation process, tokenisation is employed by the payment gateway. At the checkout, tokenisation masks the customers’ card details. It replaces this sensitive information with a randomly generated number called a token, and it is this token that is shared and saved even by PrettyLittleThing.
Thus, even if there’s a data breach, the hackers won’t gain access to the card detail, but the token which would be useless to them.
That said, PrettyLittleThing is safe; you can shop there without worrying about your payment information being compromised.
Mobile Compatibility
Many persons do most of their browsing on their mobile devices. So it’s important that the website of any serious online store be optimized for mobile.
You can get the store at https://www.prettylittlething.com. The website which is available in the English language is fully optimized for smaller screens such as smartphones and tablets.
Thus, PrettyLittleThing supports desktop platform (such as Windows and MacOS) as well as mobile operating systems (such as Android and iOS). What is more, its design makes navigation very easy whether you’re viewing from a desktop or mobile platform.
PrettyLittleThing Video:

The same goes for boots, you’ll find Over The Knee Boots, Heeled Boots, Ankle Boots, Thigh High Boots, and Suede Boots.
You can still kill the occasion with less flamboyant footwear from PrettyLittleThing which includes Sandals (both heeled and flat), Flat Shoes, Peep Toe, and Sliders.
Beauty Products
Every woman is beautiful. Yes, I mean that. Every woman is beautiful; and yes, you are. PrettyLittleThing offers a range of beauty product that’ll help you bring out the perfected version of yourself, and give you the confidence to take on the world.
This includes Face Makeup, Eye Makeup, Lip Makeup, Eyebrow Makeup, False Nails and Nail Wraps, Fake Tan and Mits, Body Beauty Products, Hair Extensions and Accessories, Beauty Tools and Accessories, and Beauty Brands.
Cost/ Price
PrettyLittleThing offers a variety of products, and they keep adding new products from time to time. So it’s difficult to quote a particular price for any one product. In any case, prices fluctuate a lot, and you’ll have to keep checking their website for the price of any particular product at a particular time.
However, PrettyLittleThing pledge to offer low prices that everyone can afford. A comparison of the prices of their products with similar products in other stores shows that they live up to the pledge. PrettyLittleThing offers some of the best prices you’ll find for trending women’s clothing and accessories.
Promotions
Online stores know that one thing that drives sales is discounts and so they offer different promotions to make their prices even more enticing. PrettyLittleThing is no exception.
They offer different promotions from time to time. Their promotions run for only a fixed period; so you’ll have to keep checking their website for anyone running.
One promotion that is running at this time of writing included a 40% off everything (by using the promo code DOLL 40). Another promotion is a reduced rate of £1.50 (instead of £1.99) for the “next day delivery” for UK customers.
Payment Methods
You should want an online store that supports different payment methods so that you can easily find one to make your payments.
In PrettyLittleThing, you can make payment for all products using credit or debit cards. The accepted cards include Visa, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Solo, Maestro, Electron and Laser Card. You can also make payment using PayPal.
The accepted currencies include GBP (British Pound), EUR (Euro), AUD (Australian Dollars), NZD (New Zealand Dollars), and CAD (Canadian Dollars). It’s a good thing that a good number of currencies are accepted because it means that many customers will not have to worry about currency conversions when making their purchases.
However, the lack of support for cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin may be a deal breaker to many customers; as these transaction methods are increasingly becoming popular and promise to displace fiat money very soon.
Shipping
Unbeatable low prices used to be the way of putting your competition down, but that has since been replaced by shipping policy, specifically free shipping.
Customers (count me among them) like getting something for nothing, and there are some retailers that give them this via free shipping.
Unfortunately, PrettyLittleThing does not offer free shipping. You’ll have to pay for shipping to get every item bought from PrettyLittleThing. The shipping costs depend on your location and how fast you need the items.
They offer a “next day delivery” for customers inside the UK at a cost of £5.99, as long as the orders are placed before 10 pm (but before 9:30 pm on Saturdays). There’s also a “Nominated Day Delivery” for UK customers that cost £5.99, which allows them to choose any delivery date of their choice (but up to 10 days in advance). There’s also a “PLT loyalty shipping offer” also to UK customers, where customers get a whole year of “next day deliveries” at a cost of just £9.99. If you want to save more on shipping by giving up a little on delivery timeliness, PrettyLittleThing offers a “saver delivery” for UK customers that’ll take any time from 3 to 5 working days for you t get your items; it cost £1.99.
Customers from every other part of the world have a choice of Standard delivery and Express delivery. For those in the US, standard delivery takes 5 to 7 working days and cost $5.00, while express delivery takes 2 to 3 working days and cost $15.00. For those in Canada, standard delivery also takes 5 to 7 working days but cost $10.00, while express delivery take 3 to 4 working days and cost $25.00.
As is common with international deliveries, there are import duties and taxes that you might have to pay. PrettyLittleThing covers such payments for customers only in the US and Canada.
Returns and Refund Policy
There are many reasons why you would want to return products and seek a refund. With clothing, there’s the problem of sizing; that is, where the clothes do not fit. Apart from that, it could also be any of you changing your mind about the product, the quality of the product not meeting your expectations, or you getting the wrong product.
Therefore, it’s important to check if the store you’re planning to purchase items from allows returns.
Thankfully, PrettyLittleThing does allow returns. But before returning any item, you’ll give to contact their customer service team by filling a service form on the site. If you make the required contact with the customer service agent, state your intention and reason of returning the item(s), and proceed to return the item(s); PrettyLittleThing will give you a refund of your payment.
However, there are important things that you should keep in mind about their returns and refund policy.
- No exchanges
With some return policies, when returns are made, you are either given a refund in the original form of payment, or you are allowed to get another item (of the same value) in exchange for the returned item.
Unfortunately, PrettyLittleThing does not allow you to exchange a returned item for another, whether it be for an identical item or a different item entirely. To get another item, you’ll have to return the first one, get refunded for it, and make a fresh order.
- 28 days return window
Like every other store, you don’t have forever to contemplate returning an item. With PrettyLittleThing, you must return any item within 28 days of receiving your order
- Cost of returns
One sad thing is that PrettyLittleThing largely does not offer a free returns service. You’ll have to make any returns at your own cost. The only customers that get free returns are those in the UK.
- Condition of returned items
Just as is applicable in every other store, when returning items, they must be in the same conditions they were when you received them. Any items that you are returning must be unworn and unwashed. If they are shoes, they must have been tried on indoors. You must also ensure that all tags on the items are intact. Lastly, you must return the items in their original packaging
- No returns items
There are a few items that cannot be returned to PrettyLittleThing. Some for good reasons, and others for unexplainable reasons.
All grooming products and pierced jewellery cannot be returned, and so is swimwear and lingerie if the hygiene seal has been broken. It’s understandable that these items can not be returned for health and hygiene reasons.
However, PrettyLittleThing also does not allow the returns of beauty products and accessories. Definitely, health and hygiene are not in play here; the only explainable reason for this is its a matter of policy.
While it is good that returns are allowed, it would be a deal breaker to many customers that beauty products and accessories cannot be returned. Also, returns being at the expense of customers would be cruel if he returns is necessitated because the retailer delivers a defective or wrong item. I’ll like to see something about PrettyLittleThing assuming the cost of returns if a faulty or wrong item was delivered.
Also, after the returns have successfully gotten to them, PrettyLittleThing may take up to 21 days to process your refund. In fairness to them, they say they endeavour to do it ASAP, but that on occasions, it may take up to 21 days. It is our opinion that 21 days is too long, for any reason.
The good thing is that they communicate you during the process. After your refund is processed, they fire you an email to let you know. After that, it can take another 3 to 5 business days for the payment to show in your account depending on your card issuer.
If you have not been refunded after 30 days of returning the item, you can reach PrettyLittleThing to know what’s happening.

Customer Support
Customer Support makes or breaks any business. When you have a question or issue, and reach out to customer support service, you want to meet a responsive and helpful service. Therefore, it’s important to consider the channels that an online store provides for contacting them, as well as the effectiveness of those channels.
PrettyLittleThing provides only two customer support channels. You can either send an electronic mail (using the email address: customer.services@prettylittlething.com) or write to them via post (using the address: PrettyLittleThing.com, PO Box 553, Burnley, BB11 9GD).
It’s not difficult to see that the email service will be the favoured option, making it the “only” option for reaching PrettyLittleThing. With email services, you’ll have to wait for some time after your submission to get a response. Thus, many customers want to see instant feedback channels such as a live chat or a telephone support service. Unfortunately, PrettyLittleThing offers none of these instant feedback channels. You’ll have to send a mail, and wait for a response from one of their support agents.
Thankfully, PrettyLittleThing doesn’t keep you waiting for long. They answer all email inquiries in a few hours. The helpfulness of the response is another thing entirely; it’s not uncommon to see generic automated replies.
It should be noted that there are a lot of customer reviews that rank the customer support service of PrettyLittleThing as non-existent. This is usually as a result of the support service not being helpful in solving some issues with order shipment, refunds etc.
In my opinion, the “problem” department in many of those instances is not the customer support service, but other departments like accounts etc. I can see why customer support gets the brunt; they’re the ones you contact about your problems, and you’ll expect them to solve the problems. But in most cases, they can do nothing but escalate.
I don’t like that there’s only email support service, and I don’t like that support response are sometimes generic and automated. However, it is good that responses are fast, and it is even more impressive that PrettyLittleThing answers customers in many review forums. Yes, PrettyLittleThing goes outside their website, and monitor other online review platforms, and take the time to reach out to their disgruntled customers.

Reputation
Will you want to patronize a business that is known for ripping off people? If yes, then you probably wouldn’t want to consider the reputation of a business before having dealings with them. Take it from me, it makes you a special person. But for the rest of us who aren’t that special, reputation matters. That is why it is common that customers would have a preference for retailers with a good reputation.
Thus, we dived into finding out the reputation of PrettyLittleThing in the online community. It is sad that it didn’t make for good reading.
One big problem was that of long delivery times. There are too many verified issues of customers having to wait for too long to get their deliveries, and that is even with customers that pay the steep price for “next day delivery”. Another very common problem identified is that of lost deliveries. Too many customers have their orders not received; with PrettyLittleThing saying that the items are lost and undertaking to refund payments.
We matched the problem of numerous late or lost deliveries, with PrettyLittleThing’s own confession that their items sell out quickly. Yes, PrettyLittleThing says that they are a fast paced shop that sells off items pretty quickly.
We think that, after matching A and B together, it is safe to assume that most items are out of stock, but PrettyLittleThing will still process their orders anyway. If the items can be made available, you get your deliveries, but late; but if the items cannot be made available in a reasonable time, you get the “lost delivery” story.
Another theme in the many ugly customer reviews of PrettyLittleThing is that of waiting for long periods to get a refund. This is in large part due to the fact that they may take up to 21 days to process refunds. The many reviews show that customers are not happy to wait forever to get their refund, especially after spending more to return the item(s).
Summary
PrettyLittleThing is a legit store for trending females fashion. As a true one-stop shop for fashion, they offer an excellent range of quality products, as well as excellent prices. They promise to make you the best dressed for less; and they have the product range, quality and prices to silver that.
However, there are a few areas we feel that they can work on. Free shipping will transform them to the number one retailer in many people’s list. We’ll like to see them offer exchanges, even if it’s only before an order is shipped. Payment options can also be increased to include E-wallets and cryptocurrencies.
Then there’s the twin problem of late deliveries and lost deliveries which led to the assumption that PrettyLittleThing may be processing orders for out of stock items. It’s a no brainer that that should stop, and that deliveries should reach customers and on time.
I liked
- Payment gateway secure card details with tokenisation
- A true one-stop shop with an amazing product range
- Wallet-friendly prices, as well as excellent promotions from time to time
- Allow returns and process refunds
I didn’t like
- No exchanges
- No free shipping
- No returns for beauty products and accessories
- Refund processing time is too long
- E-mail only customer service (no telephone service or live chat)
- Limited payment options (cryptocurrencies and e-wallets are not supported)
- Bad reputation (for late deliveries, lost deliveries, long time to refunds)
